Zundert: Vincent van Gogh was born on this spot on 30 March 1853. The house he was born in was replaced by the current building in 1903 which has accommodated the Vincent van Gogh House since 2008. Vincent enjoyed a carefree childhood in this Brabant village. Within his harmonious family he shared not only a room but a bed with his younger brother Theo. He gained his love of the countryside from the long walks he made with his family. Vincent left the village for good in July 1869. But he often reminisced about it with feelings of melancholy.
