Eindhoven: Vincent made regular trips to Eindhoven. He gave lessons to a couple of amateur artists in Antoon Hermans's house, he bought his paint at Baijens, his printing ink at Gestel & Sons and visited his friend Anton Kerssemakers who lived across from the former railway station. He also took piano lessons for some time but seemed to have a better eye for color than an ear for musical tones. While on the way he found subjects for his drawings and paintings: the watermill at Opwetten, the church at Tongelre, the engine house of the old station, the Catharina Church and the telegraph office. Together with Kerssemakers - who published his memoirs of Vincent in 1912 - he also visited museums in Antwerp and Amsterdam.
