The Begemann family lived in house Nune Ville. While Vincent was looking after his mother who was recovering from a broken hip in 1884, one of the Begemann sisters, Margot, took over her needlework lessons. Vincent and Margot fell in love, but the families were very much against this. Margot, who was already very highly-strung, became confused and drank some poison. Vincent took her to a doctor. While she was recovering from her attempted suicide in Utrecht, he seriously considered marrying her, but things never got that far.
