The new Rembrandt, The new Vermeer...: The New Vincent has been around for 10 years! In 2013, Vincents Tekenlokaal took the initiative to develop a talent program especially for this age group, because there was little in the area of drawing for them. Since then, the program has also been rolled out at the other VanGogh locations in Brabant. For example, 'The New Vincent van Brabant' started last year in Zundert and Nuenen is also participating this year. In 2024, Etten-Leur will join. This expansion is possible thanks to a grant from the province of North Brabant.
Vincents Tekenlokaal in Tilburg is starting another talent program: who will be The New Vincent of 2023?
In the coming weeks, young people between the ages of 10 and 14 can send in their very best drawings to compete for a coveted spot in The New Vincent. This talent program for young drawing talents starts in June and offers room for a maximum of fifteen youngsters, who follow master classes and excursions and work towards an exhibition in December.
The participants will follow an intensive program of drawing classes, master classes and excursions, including a drawing class at museum De Pont and a lesson in model drawing by artist Paul van Dongen. The goal of the program is to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques with like-minded people. The project is from Vincents Tekenlokaal, which has been back at Het Paleis in Tilburg for several months. Here illustrators are offered both classical and digital drawing classes.
Participate
De Nieuwe Vincent is especially for young people between 10 and 14 years old who love nothing more than drawing and want to develop their skills. Participation is free, but it does take time and commitment.
Entries can be submitted by May 7, 2023, or earlier. A jury will choose a maximum of 15 participants from all entries in mid-May, paying attention to creativity, techniques used and uniqueness. For more information and to apply, visit www.denieuwevincent.nl.
Not a drawing contest
The organization emphasizes that The New Vincent is not a competition. All participants will pull together and improve their drawing skills. Everyone works on a portfolio. At the end, a selection of the work will be exhibited. The artist who then stands out the most in terms of originality, quality and growth may call himself The New Vincent 2023.
