Letter 092, Vincent van Gogh to his brother Theo
On March 30, 1853, Vincent van Gogh was born in Zundert.
On the site of the Vincent van GoghHuis stood the old parsonage of the Dutch Reformed Congregation. This is where Vincent lived until he was sixteen years old.

In addition to the permanent presentation, there are always changing exhibitions. Often focusing on 20th and 21st century artists who were or are inspired by the work and/or life of Vincent van Gogh.

100 years ago, Jo van Gogh-Bonger sold Vincent van Gogh's famous Sunflowers to the National Gallery in London. To mark the occasion, Van Gogh Brabant is organizing "The Year of the Sunflower. Fields are sown with the colorful yellow flowers in numerous locations and exhibitions are being held by contemporary artists inspired by Vincent's Sunflowers.
The Van GoghHuis presents works by Marc Mulders, Reinoud van Vught, Jorn van Leeuwen, Isabella Werkhoven, Jarik Jongman, Thijs Segers, Claudy Jongstra, Loek Grootjans, Erik Andriesse, Peter Kantelberg, Salvo, Chant van Lieshout, Esmee van Zeeventer, Danielle Hoogendoorn, Wouter van Riessen, Matijs van de Kerkhof, Rainer Fetting, Alberto Scodro, André Smits and KASBOEK.

The former verger's house next to the little church houses the Van GoghGalerie. Here is shown and sold works by the artists who worked as artist-in-residence in Zundert.

Behind the Van GoghHuis is a beautiful garden. Vincent played there as a child. Wander around for yourself. Around the corner you'll find the church where Vincent's father preached, the grave of his brother and namesake and Ossip Zadkine's sculpture "Vincent & Theo.
See what there is to see and do
It was in this church that the artist's father, Reverend Theodorus van Gogh, preached. Initially Vincent wanted to follow in his footsteps, but after an unsuccessful career as an evangelist in the Belgian mining region of the Borinage, he turned away from the institution of church. His later drawings and paintings, however, still testify to a deep religious awareness.
In Zundert, six sites have been designated as Van Gogh Monument and thus recognized because of the special significance they had for the life and work of Vincent van Gogh.
