Eindhoven: Gestel's lithography shop was located behind the house on Lange Dijk 8 (now Vestdijk). Vincent visited the print shop regularly to buy printing ink, which he used to darken his paints. He also ordered a lithographic stone for his work The Potato Eaters there. Nineteen copies of this lithograph - which he sent to friends and acquaintances - are still known worldwide. At the print shop he once saw some paintings by Dimmen Gestel, which he found promising. Vincent advised Dimmen's parents to send their son to see him. Thus Dimmen became a student of Vincent.
