Vincent chooses art
After trying to become an art dealer, teacher and preacher, Vincent van Gogh lives with his parents in Etten for another six months at the age of 28. Here he begins to draw more and more seriously. A number of radical family and love-related events made him realize that, until then, his choices had been guided by what others wanted of him. He decided to pursue his dream of becoming an artist.
Vincent starts as an artist
Next to the Reformed Church where Van Gogh's father was a pastor visit the former verger's house. In this picturesque building on the Markt, an exhibition illustrates the artist's early days; how he found his first models in Etten and was inspired by the Brabant landscape. In addition, many authentic elements can still be found in Etten-Leur that recall Vincent. You should definitely make reservations for a city walk and for the film 'Vincent van Gogh, A Sower in Etten'! Then you can really experience how Vincent laid the foundation for his later masterpieces.
Also follow the walking or cycling route that takes you past the places that played a role in Vincent van Gogh's life.

At the end of 2014 the new Van Gogh Church will be opened in Etten-Leur. An interactive, digital experience of the story of Vincent van Gogh in Etten-Leur at a unique location.
