To the south of De Moeren lies Wallsteijn estate. In the middle of a landscaped park with English Court stands a white-plastered villa built at the beginning of the nineteenth century by order of Frederik van de Wall, mayor of Zundert.
His son Louis van de Wall (1851-1936) was church guardian of the Dutch Reformed Church in Zundert for many years in addition to being mayor. He bequeathed the entire assets and property of his family to the Ad Usus Pios Foundation ("Tot vroom gebruik"), which supports the activities of the Protestant church in Zundert.
He was also master builder of the new rectory erected in 1904 on the site of Vincent's birthplace.
Vincent's mother also contributed to the financing of this construction. Since 2008, it has housed the Vincent van GoghHuis.
