Vincent van GoghHuisDuring the period 1883-1885, Vincent visited Eindhoven regularly. He visited friends there including Anton Kerssemakers and Antoon Hermans. During his time in Nuenen, Vincent also bought his painting materials in Eindhoven. Eindhoven has four Van Gogh Monuments. Between Nuenen and Eindhoven is the famous Van Gogh-Roosegaarde bike path.
EindhovenFrom 1871 - 1875 Vincent van Gogh's father was pastor in the Reformed church of Helvoirt, and Vincent visited his family regularly and wrote about it in his letters. His aunts also lived near the parsonage. Helvoirt has three Van Gogh Monuments. A walking route is available at the Van Gogh information center.
HelvoirtThis is where Vincent's grandparents lived. His father, uncles and aunts grew up there. The Van Gogh family had come to Breda from The Hague because Vincent's grandfather was appointed pastor there in 1822.
BredaThis is where Vincent van Gogh attended Jan Provily's boys' boarding school. Vincent attended school here after the summer of 1864--he was 11--and remained there until he was admitted to the HBS in Tilburg two years later.
ZevenbergenIn Tilburg, Vincent attended the Hogere Burger School where his classes included drawing. He found a boarding house with the Hannik family.
TilburgDuring his stay in Nuenen, Van Gogh regularly went out to make sketches and paint outside. This included a trip to Lieshout where he captured Mill De Vogelenzang. This mill can still be viewed today. It is Van Gogh Monument.
