Development Van Gogh Church step further

Another step forward to create a Van Gogh experience in the former Dutch Reformed Church, annex Council Chamber / Van Gogh Church, in Etten-Leur.

To this end, the Municipal Executive of the Municipality of Etten-Leur has presented to the City Council, after a long period of preparation, a proposal to sell the church to Van Gogh Sites NV. In addition to the church on the Raadhuisplein, it also involves the property Markt 4, the former "verger's house," now Tourist Information Point / Etten-Leur City Shop. Both are national monuments as well as Van Gogh Monuments.

The proposed sale is in line, on the one hand, with the municipality's need to dispose of property and, on the other, with the desire of the Vincent van Gogh Etten-Leur Foundation to give the center of the municipality a visit-worthy, cultural and economic impulse by creating a multimedia experience in the church around the theme of "Vincent's passion.

The proposal will be presented in more detail to the City Council on Monday, April 19. The council will debate it on May 10 and a decision is expected on Tuesday, May 25.

Dagblad BNDeStem published two articles following the proposal:
- Etten-Leur wants to sell Van Gogh Kerk
- Even after sale Van Gogh Kerk municipality will continue to cost money
