Etten-Leur has five Van Gogh monuments. The best known is the Van Gogh Church. Behind the church stood the parsonage of the family Van Gogh. This has been demolished, but a statue of Vincent commemorates the spot. The third Van Gogh Monument is the "verger's house" at Markt 4 (museum shop). Almost next to this picturesque house is the Old Council House (Markt 1). This is where Vincent first registered as a painter in 1881. A little further on the Market is the fifth Van Gogh Monument: the Lambert Church.
A statue of Vincent now stands where the rectory, the residence, of the Van Gogh family once stood. In fact, the statue stands exactly where Vincent's very first studio was located at the time. The statue was created by sculptor Hein Vree. It was made in 1990 to commemorate the death of Vincent van Gogh, then one hundred years ago. The statue is of course included in the walking route 'Beeldig Etten-Leur'. An enjoyable walk along nearly 40 works of art in the public space.
In the center of Etten-Leur you have plenty of lovely terraces, overlooking the Van Gogh Church, among others. Hopefully they will all be open again at Easter. The most colorful is at the facade of Bistro Vincents. Here, by the way, you can also stay overnight with a view of the church. One of the unknown spots in the center of Etten-Leur is the Bogaard. A bit hidden in the small neighborhood of the same name is a number of beautiful silver birches. They are reminiscent of Vincent's painting The White Orchard (Arles, 1888). A great place for a romantic picture with the two of you or a playful photo with the children.

Discover Etten-Leur
In 1986 - as a sign of connection - a line came between Etten and Leur. 'Leur' is about a 15-minute walk from the Center. Walk from the Geerkade via the Leurse Vaart towards De Turfvaart (click on the photo). From this location you can walk through nature reserve Kelsdonk and take the Laarzenpad.
Boot Trail
The Pannenhoef, a natural gem between Etten-Leur and Zundert. Here you can follow in the footsteps of Van Gogh. Starting point for a bicycle tour or walk is De Menmoerhoeve, Zundertseweg 66. Past the vegetable garden, fruit orchard and butterfly garden you walk across the meadow (in the company of cows and sheep) into De Pannenhoef. An experience! The Menmoerhoeve is open every day.
