Bust of mother Vincent unveiled

Together with Reverend Marlies Schulz, current resident of the Van Gogh House, Jantine van Gogh unveiled the bust.

During her speech, she said she was honored by the bust of her great-great-grandmother and could well understand why she had such a special bond with Nuenen. Letters showed that Anna was attached to the people of Nuenen. The unveiling of the statue is part of the bicentennial anniversary of the municipality of Nuenen, Gerwen and Nederwetten. Visual artist Peter Nagelkerke from Eindhoven created the bust.

The bust took some doing because the house Vincent lived in during his Nuenen years, the rectory, is a national monument, and so is the garden. Just adding a statue didn't happen overnight!
