Sien is briefly back in Brabant

Familiar face from Nuenen

This is Gordina de Groot, "Sien. Sien sitting at the table in The Potato Eaters. You can also recognize her face in many studies Vincent van Gogh made for this masterpiece, as you can see in our museum. She was a farmer's daughter from Nuenen and was often the model for Van Gogh.
The hard peasant life is reflected in her face. Her penetrating, worried look touches you.

Gordina is back in Brabant for a while , in Het Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch and can be seen there from today.
