The daily life of Nuenen anno 1883: hard work in the fields, weaving and praying but also poverty and disease. For the well-to-do vicar Begemann family and their youngest daughter Margot, there was also church tension, bankruptcy, jealousy, depression and death. Then a peculiar passerby moved into the parental home next door. This strange Protestant "man stepped off the face of the earth" caused quite a stir in Nuenen, and for Margot, the most hectic period of her life begins.....
