It's over: GLOW2021 Nuenen: 'It's good to see Nuenen glow' as one of our English-speaking visitors said. It was indeed good to experience.
Local local broadcaster LON made a nice video of the sea of flowers.
Between ferocious plan and what we experienced last week, there is commitment from a lot of people, mostly on a volunteer basis. Without them we could not have done this! Thank you numb volunteers dressed in mood management vests, the extra manning in Museum Vincentre, the infinite patience with which the plugs were replaced when they had once again jumped on the damp field. Miller Mario and neighbor Hennie Merks and Fons Linders, Lions Nuenen and Rotary Nuenen.
From the Nuenen hospitality industry we hear that the B&Bs were full, so were the restaurants and that it was pleasant in the village.
We counted 25,000 people including many families with children, 1 horse, and hundreds of amateur photographers. Many shared the photos with us, for which we thank you very much.
Will you all come back again? Sunflowers at the mill, it was beautiful, but we have in Nuenen a total of 23 Van Gogh locations of which 14 are monument. During the day it is also great fun to see them all! Museum Vincentre currently has a wonderful photo exhibition by @marielouisenijsing on display.
As one visitor reported on our socials earlier this year, "You shouldn't be in Nuenen anytime soon. There is so much to see. The route is very nice to walk and you pass all those memorable spots. Nuenen really comes highly recommended!"
Windmill de Roosdonck can be seen in the background in various sketches and drawings by Vincent van Gogh. A little further on is the cottage where the De Groot family lived, the family you see depicted in the Potato Eaters.
Vincent could be found here almost every day. Nuenen, as depicted by him in drawings and paintings, can still be clearly recognized in contemporary Nuenen and its surroundings.
The sunflowers were seen next to mill De Roosdonck, one of the many Van Gogh Monuments in Nuenen. Overlooking the house that used to be the farmhouse of the De Groot family, painted by Van Gogh, together at a table around a dish of potatoes. The cottage with two chimneys and thatched roof, no longer exists. The interior is known from many sketches, and eventually three versions Potato Eaters.
In a unique collaboration between GLOW, Van Gogh Brabant , Museum Vincentre and Nuenen entrepreneurs this event was realized. And this light artwork was placed as a colorful homage to Vincent van Gogh.
'Sunflowers for Van Gogh' is a collaborative project by Eindhoven-based light artist Hugo Vrijdag and Gu Yeliang from Nanjing. During GLOW 2019, this light project was audience favorite.
