Exhibition of new acquisitions in Zundert

The Vincent van GoghHuis in Zundert presents the exhibition "Vincent inspires" from January 19 to March 17, 2019. With recent acquisitions from the museum's collection, it will be made visible that Van Gogh is still a current source of inspiration for contemporary artists.

On display are works by artists who have worked in the guest studio next to the Van Gogh Church. They stay in the old verger's house and create new work here inspired by Van Gogh's native village and the surrounding natural areas. In exchange for their stay in the residence, they always donate a work to the Van GoghHuis collection.

This exhibition features works from 2017-2018, by Ingrid Simons, Albert Zwaan, Jeroen Witvliet, Anna Lange, Renée van Trier, Lindert Paulussen, Bettie van Haaster, Arpaïs Du Bois, Diana Roig and Kurt Ryslavy.

Also on display are two works donated during the tenth anniversary of the Van GoghHuis. On that occasion, Paul Andriesse donated the diptych 'Sunflowers' by Erik Andriesse (1957-1993). Peter Kantelberg donated an early work from 1981 inspired by "The Potato Eaters.

In addition, installations were created especially for this exhibition by current artist in residence Aram Tanis and by Ian Skirvin, winner of the 2018 AKV St Joost | Van Gogh AiR Prize.

Finally, hanging in the museum store is the special edition made by Vik Muniz to Van Gogh during the Zundert flower parade. Van Gogh's shoes were then depicted with over 60,000 dahlias in the garden of the Van GoghHuis. The photograph Muniz took of this tableau will be sold in an edition of 25 signed C-prints to benefit the Van GoghHuis.
