Was born and grew up in Zundert, attended boarding school in Zevenbergen, went to the HBS in Tilburg for his first drawing lessons, took his first steps in artistry in Etten and in Nuenen he made a great development as a painter and created his first masterpiece: Vincent van Gogh lived half of his life in North Brabant. It was an important home for him, a fixture in his life to which he often fell back.
Various locations bear the traces of his childhood and his family, loves and friends. The drawings and paintings he made there are closely linked to the Brabant countryside. He took farmers and their homes as his model. He painted nature, mills and churches in his surroundings. Atlas Van Gogh in Brabant brings these well-known and lesser-known places into the limelight. The book follows Vincent closely along the buildings, locations and landscapes where he stayed or was inspired.
The Atlas Van Gogh in Brabant, a co-production of Van Gogh Brabant and Het Noordbrabants Museum in 's-Hertogenbosch, describes no fewer than 46 Van Gogh Monuments and will be presented in Zundert on March 30, 2023.
