The New Vincent 2022

As of Sunday, December 18, 2022, Brabant is home to two New Vincentians. Daniël Lacroes was named The New Vincent of Tilburg and Iefke Siemons was named The New Vincent of Zundert. The talent program De Nieuwe Vincent is an initiative of Vincents Tekenlokaal in Tilburg. This year in cooperation with the Vincent van GoghHuis in Zundert. Young people between 10 and 14 could compete for a spot by sending in their three favorite drawings. The best went through and followed an intensive program of workshops, excursions and master classes, in which they learned new techniques and had the chance to further develop their talent.

Tilburg
The award in Tilburg was presented during the opening of De Nieuwe Vincent's exhibition at Kunstpodium T, where Esmah Lahlah, alderman for Existence, Equity and Talent Development of the Municipality of Tilburg, excitedly addressed the fourteen young participants. She emphasized that basically everyone is a winner. The jury consisted of Paul van Dongen, Klaartje Esch and Tyrell Kuipers, experts in the arts.
Artist Paul van Dongen gave a model drawing workshop during the talent program. Klaartje Esch is managing director of Kunstpodium T and is committed to talent development from young to old. Tyrell Kuipers is an artist and active in various places in Tilburg's cultural field. During the judging they paid attention to various aspects. A consideration between technique mastery, talent, performance, the learning process and one's own style. The jury deliberated for a long time. The participants were very evenly matched. In the end, their own style was the deciding factor for the judges. "The winner is an unpolished raw talent. It is very exciting how this will develop further," the jury report said.

The Prize
The prize won by Daniel is a mobile drawing box including a folding easel and a gift voucher of €200 from Antoon de Jong drawing and painting supplies. The 13 other Nieuwe Vincenten who had followed the talent program were also put in the limelight and all received the emphatic message to continue to develop their drawing talents. The Nieuwe Vincenten 2022 are:
Benthe van Lieshout, Boris Masselink, Daniël Lacroes, Ilona van Oosterbosch, Isra Yusuf, Merel Hartgers, Panna Fenyohazi, Pepijn Hartveld, Quinn Oostvriesland, Quinn van Gorp, Tsineat Girmay, Tünde Bodó, Yanne van der Dussen and Yente Mensen.

Exhibition
The work of all New Vincenten can be seen in Kunstpodium T, Noordstraat 105, 5038 EH Tilburg. Open Wednesday, December 21 to Friday, December 23 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday, December 28 to Friday, December 30 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
For many years Vincents Tekenlokaal and Kunstpodium T have worked together. Both organizations are committed to talent development, with Kunstpodium T emphasizing long learning and long-term support for artists. Kunstpodium T offers more than an exhibition space, it is an art platform in Tilburg where artists grow by experimenting, exchanging and meeting each other.
