Van Gogh mural 's-Hertogenbosch

South Line is a project of the B5 cities of Brabant in cooperation with the province of North Brabant. The aim is to connect the railroad zones of these cities through creative, cultural, sports and urban projects. One desire of Zuidlijn is to also develop a project that focuses on Street art. Street art suits the railroad zones, there are more and more activities in the cities such as the Blind Wall route in Breda and large graffiti festivals such as King of Colors and Step in the Arena, which also attract more and more visitors, And because of the ever-increasing quality of the works, governments and other stakeholders are no longer shocked by graffiti in their cities. Street art is here to stay!

Street art project group B5 Rail zones

Breda: Dennis Elbers, Blind Walls Gallery
Tilburg: Erik Veldmeijer, street artist, initiator of murals in Tilburg
's-Hertogenbosch: Jan Henk van Ieperen business leader and co-founder Kings of Colors
Eindhoven: Dave van den Berg, business and artistic leader Step in the Arena
Helmond: Hans van den Berkmortel, director Urban Matterz
Zuidlijn: Ruth Giebels, project leader Zuidlijn

    Setup

The idea is simple and effective. In every railroad zone there will be a mural in a highly visible spot. The murals will be designed and made by Brabant artists. The connecting theme is Van Gogh. As a source of inspiration, literally or figuratively. The brush will be replaced by the roller and the spray can. We also look at what role the city in question has had in the life of Van Gogh. All five murals also belong together and gain even more value when you see all five.

Meanwhile, Van Gogh murals have been realized in Breda, Eindhoven, 's-Hertogenbosch and - very recently - in Tilburg. The next Van Gogh mural will be in Helmond. Here, Ilse Weisfelt's artwork will be distributed across the four pillars under the Kasteel-Traverse at Kasteellaan and Kanaaldijk Noord-West.

The mural in 's-Hertogenbosch is a collaboration of Zuidlijn, Kings of Colors (stage for Urban Arts & Culture Kings of Colors), Het Noordbrabants Museum, housing corporation Zayaz and Van Gogh Brabant !

The project group says of the mural, "A painting, where the brush has been replaced by the spray can and made in the public space for everyone to enjoy. The mural featuring Vincent van Gogh as an energetic artist and passionate human being. Around him an imagination of people who were close to him. People who helped him, whom he felt love for or was inspired by. Such as Brabant farmers (from the Potato Eaters), model and life partner Sien and his brother Theo who financed him and with whom he wrote a lot. The agile style refers to the agile painting touch and form language of Van Gogh and depicts van Gogh's eventful restless spirit. Always seeking his mission in life and recognition and love from people. The text "Close friends are truly life's treasures" is the translation of a quote from Van Gogh: "Close friends are truly life's treasures.
